Each of these positions links to a page with a bullet list at the top covering the highlights and a narrative of the position.
A note on the narrative format:
When I talk about the type of work I do, people’s eyes either glaze over or get an understanding look to them. You either know the type of work I have been involved with (Computer Server Administration / Systems Administration) or you don’t and (let’s be honest) it’s not something you’re overly interested in. I get that.
To summarize my technical employment history:
If it’s a job that a Systems Admin would have done, I’ve likely done it. I’ve worked with Solaris, Linux, Windows, and MacOS X. I’ve used VMware extensively, including creating templates and managing deployments. I’ve done networking, managed Cisco ICE services for authentication of wireless clients, and worked with SAN systems. If you have any questions on any of that or want to discuss particular aspects (or if you are looking to hire someone with those skills), feel free to ask. But most of my narratives will be less technical in style.
As I worked through the list, it was interesting to see the way things have changed. There was actually more changes near the start than later, but that’s because the positions became more routine.
That’s something I would like to fix. Routines can be nice, but growth doesn’t happen without change.
