Urban Homesteading

What’s this?

Urban Homesteading is having a “farm” within an urban environment. How far you take this is dependent on many things, but I have some gardens as well as a good sized flock of chickens.

Yes, chickens. Legit.

OK, this is when they were still little…around June of 2017. And it’s only 3 of them.

I even built a coop for them, but that’s covered under the Carpentry topic (when I write it).

But with regards to gardens, I have a garden space that is about 4′ x 24′, another that is U shaped at 2′ wide and the “long” sides are 8′ long. Lastly I have a 8′ x 8′ corn “field”. Typical crops are tomatoes, peppers, peas, cucumbers, zucchini, corn, onions, carrots, and sometimes potatoes.
