Fujifilm E-Systems

  • Provided product server support
  • Performed web application roll-outs
  • Worked with remote development teams

A friend of mine from the Xerox (Round 2) days contacted me and told me about a position they were looking to fill at Fujifilm E-Systems. Fujifilm E-Systems was providing the hosting for a separate organization named Fujifilm eGraphics. The position seemed to be a good fit since it would be supporting servers for development teams and working with multiple groups, all while be hosted out of Rochester.

I joined the team late in this service’s lifetime and that was dictated by the way Fujifilm tested out the products they are exploring (at that time, I don’t know if it’s still the case). When someone sells them an idea, Fujifilm provides seed money and the organization has 3 years to make a product feasible. I was hired during the last 5 months that he project had to prove itself. Sadly the product did not survive it’s incubation period.

My responsibilities included supporting the server environment, documenting software roll-outs from the existing version to the latest version on test servers, and then utilizing lessons learned to the final roll-out to production. I worked with customers to answer questions, management (both within E-Systems and within eGraphics) for Change Management, performing backups and restores in the event of a failed migration, and other tasks as needed.

After the project was terminated, I was responsible for tearing down the hardware at the host site, shipping it to the appropriate locations, and related tasks.
